Luke Darnell is the head pitmaster and founder of the Old Virginia Smoke (OVS) competition BBQ team based in Bristow, Virginia.

  • Chicken Specialty: Recognized as the 2017 KCBS Chicken Team of the Year and won the chicken category at the 2021 American Royal.

Tommy Houston, affectionately known as "The Cuz," is a legendary figure in the world of professional competition barbecue. He is the founder and lead pitmaster of the Checkered Pig BBQ team, based in Martinsville, Virginia. With a career spanning several decades, he is widely regarded as one of the most consistent and successful competitors in the sport. 
Tommy Houston’s trophy case is one of the most crowded in the barbecue circuit:
  • World Championships: He has won over 20 major championships, including multiple world titles.
  • Jack Daniel’s World Championship: He famously won the Grand Championship at the prestigious Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue.
  • Prolific Winner: Throughout his career, he has earned hundreds of Grand and Reserve Grand Championships across various sanctioning bodies like KCBS and MBN.
  • Television Presence: "The Cuz" was a featured pitmaster on the hit TV series "BBQ Pitmasters" during its second season, where his colorful personality and signature bandana made him a fan favorite
Larry and Karen Orton are the entrepreneurs behind Orton’s House Seasonings, a rapidly growing brand based in Edmond, Oklahoma. Their journey transformed a private family recipe into a household name distributed across multiple states and internationally. 
  • The Creator: Larry Keith Orton is the primary cook of the family and created the original seasoning blend in 2011, shortly after marrying Karen.
  • The Launch: Although the blend was initially just for family meals, the couple officially launched the business in 2020 after friends and family encouraged them to bottle it.
  • Dynamic Duo: Karen is the visible face of the brand, handling much of the marketing and public appearances, while Larry often works behind the scenes.
